The Himalayan Times 15August 2013 CIAA’s activism It was really encouraging to read the news report “CIAA chief Karki orders tax evaders booked” (THT, 14 August, Page 1) at such a time when his legitimacy to lead CIAA was questioned and even challenged at the Supreme Court. However, getting a clean chit from the court, his appointment to such controversial position began with high expectation from the people. During the past five months, it seems that he has been trying hard to clean his tainted image by chasing the corrupt officials of various organizations. Instructing the Inland Revenue Department to bring all the tax evaders to book has been his recent bold step towards his mission of bringing all the culprits to book. It is not easy to completely root out the corruptions that have been deep-rooted and almost institutionalized everywhere.
