Kathmandu-An Open Museum
Kathmandu is and has been for many years the centre of nation’s history, art, culture, and economy. It has a multi-ethnic population within a Hindu majority. Religious and cultural festivities form a major part of the lives of people residing in Kathmandu. The city is considered the gateway to the several Himalayas and is home to several World Heritage Sites: the Durbar Square, Swayambhu Mahachaitya, Bouddha and Pashupatinath are some among the several heritages.
Balen Shah had promised to revive the architecture, infrastructure, and heritage of Kathmandu during his election campaign. He has started the cultural revitalisation of the valley by renovating and restructuring century old temples, traditional ponds and walls in the metropolitan areas.
He seems to be determined to fulfil his election manifests looking at the on-going renovation works in his metropolitan city areas. Kathmandu seems to be returning to its old glorious days with full of traditional arts, culture and temples in their traditional looks. More remains are to be seen in the remaining two and half years of Balen’s tenure as the Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayer
