King Gyanendra: Expressing concern about the nation and nationality
Addressing the nation and the people on the occasion of the “NATIONAL UNITY DAY”, King Gyanendra has again emphasized and reiterated all to come together and join hands for the sake of the nation and the people rather than pushing the nation towards political uncertainty, social disharmony and national disintegration. He expressed his concern about the nation losing its charm and prestige in the international arena, fading nationality, weakening national unity and goodwill among the people.
The King expressed his sadness with those forces that have disrupted peaceful co-existence among the people, weakened the country’s sovereignty and the state’s organs. They have committed grave crimes against the nation and the people.
He wished that this birth anniversary of late King Prithvi Narayan Shah and the National Unity Day would inspire the nation to move forward on the path of social justice, good governance and prosperity by internalizing the late king's Divyopadesh.
The Divyopadesh is a collection of the principles attributed to the late king Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, spelling out the policies on statecraft.
Paying tribute to the late king for his contribution to the national unification, King Gyanendra has expressed his confidence that this day shall inspire to attain happiness and prosperity of all Nepalis, keeping intact the nation's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity.
