Ambitious budget

The Himalayan Times 3 June 2021 Ambitious budget It looks like the budget for fiscal year 2021/22 is optimistic, considering the life of the government. However, the proposed budget looks impressive in terms of its effort to address the hardships faced by the people, difficulties faced by the students to attend on-line classes, grievances of senior citizens, financial difficulties faced by the medium and small enterprises and hotels and so on due to the COVID 19 pandemic “Government unveils RS 1.65tn budget for 2021-22” (THT, May 30, Page 1).    Waiving taxes and charges on electric bills, water bills, licence and renewal fee for sectors such as films, handicraft, aviation, media, advertising, health clubs and among others should be appreciated for the government’s effort at giving relief to the people and to the COVID-19 battered industries. The government’s decision to waive the renewal fee and road tax on electric vehicles for the next five years to encourage the ...

Politically and socially scary situation?

Politically and socially scary situation? Upon requests of my well-wishers, friends and relatives, I am sharing herewith my YouTube VDO link related to the "then and now" national political situation. Hope, you will enjoy it.   https://youtu.be/Snx6sMC5bmk Being a true democrat, I am the staunch supporter of the Constitutional Monarch and Multiparty System which is the most appropriate political system suitable for Nepal considering its geographical location and the global geopolitical environment. Nepal, as you know, has been passing through a scary political situation for the last 10/11 years because of irresponsible and foreign power guided leaders who considered themselves as the champion of democracy. We do not know where the on-going political situation takes us in the next six months because of the existing political uncertainty. The COVID 19 pandemic has hit hard the common people making them frustrated and vulnerable. If the government fails to promptly act...

Pandemic hits a renowned school

The top management of Shuvatara School in Lamatar, Lalitpur, has decided to shut down the school citing deep financial crisis triggered by the COVID pandemic. The school management informed all its students, guardians, teachers, and well-wishers that the school would be closed at least for the next two academic sessions.   Founder Director and Chairperson of Shuvatara School Rani Gurung Kakshapti said that they had to take the harsh decision owing to the financial loss the school had to bear due to the pandemic. She also said that school was in no position to pay the salaries of teachers and administrative staffers, and bear other operational costs of the school. "With less than 40 per cent of the total 365 parents paying regular fees and 20 per cent of students studying free of cost under scholarship scheme, the school had to bear huge financial loss last year and this year too there was no possibility of running the school in fledged," Kakshapti said. Meanwhile, S...

Where is the COVID 19 second jab?

Where is the COVID 19 second jab? The COVAX facility has suggested Nepal to find an alternative to COVISHIELD, throwing a wrench in the country's plan to inoculate citizens aged 65 and above with the second dose of coronavirus vaccine. COVAX is the Vaccine pillar of the Access to Covid-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator in partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.   Following the inability expressed by COVISHIELD manufacturers Serum Institute of India (SIL) to provide the vaccine to the world for another year, the COVAX facility has written to Nepal suggesting it to start looking for another appropriate alternative, it has been learnt. Earlier, COVAX had committed to providing the country with 1,920,000 doses of COVISHIELD by May and had sent 348,000 doses of SII manufactured jabs to Nepal in the first stage on March 07. However, after Serum India shared its concerns, COVAX has found it hard to supply Nepal with the remaining committed doses of vaccine. Source : The ...

HEARTY GREETINGS

HEARTY GREETINGS I wish all the Buddhist friends and relatives in Nepal and all over the world a very happy, peaceful and prosperous days ahead on the auspicious occasion of LORD BUDDHA’S 2565 th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY.    He was a teacher, philosopher and spiritual leader who is considered the founder of Buddhism. His gracious preaching for betterment of human beings has become more relevant in this beautiful world which has been heavily exploited and cruelly spoiled by the human themselves in the name of modern world.   Some of the LORD BUDDHA’S QUOTATIONS: “I teach because you and all beings want to have happiness and want to avoid suffering. I teach the way things are.” “There is no happiness: happiness is the path.” If you truly loved yourself, you could never hurt another.” “You will not be punished for your anger: you will be punished by your anger” https://quotes.thefamouspeople.com/gautama-buddha-6362.php
