Can the NCP politically survive as one single party?
The on-going political power struggle between the Nepal Communist Party two chairpersons possessing two different communist principals and ideologies is nothing but their political egos which have surfaced now for their own political interests.
How could it be possible for the second rung leaders and the NCP as a whole to accommodate and hold these two highly ambitious and opportunist chairpersons together? As the political and constitutional experts opine that these two chairpersons agreeing to merge their parties just before the three levels of election held in 2017 was nothing but to fulfil for their personal political benefits. It has been almost three years the NCP has not been able to complete their unification process because of their two different communist principles and ideologies.
The political feud at the apex level of the NCP will continue to exist until one of the chairpersons agrees to compromise with the other for their personal benefits. Is it possible for Oli or Prachanda to do so? The blame game has already started between them tarnishing each other’s political images. Looking closely at the on-going blame game, it does seem that the NCP, sooner or later, will split. But, are the two chairpersons and the second rung leaders ready to lose their personal political benefits and other state facilities that they are enjoying now?
Before too late for them to politically harm themselves, they might agree to withdraw Dahal’s 19 –page political accusation paper and convincing Oli not to pen his rebuttal. It is yet to be seen how the NCP will end their on-going political mess at such a time when the country is completely engrossed by Covid 19 pandemic.

Bid to save NCP unity on
General Secretary of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who is close to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, today met party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and urged him to withdraw his proposal that he had presented in the Secretariat meeting last week.
In the 19-page document, Dahal had accused Oli of defying power sharing deal with him, ignoring party rules and decisions, and failing to run the party and the government.
“Paudel told Dahal to withdraw his proposal and seek resolution of issues on the basis of consensus,” a source close to Paudel told THT. In the Secretariat meeting held on Wednesday, Oli countered the allegations made against him by Dahal and majority members of the party Secretariat and sought 10 days to pen his rebuttal.
Later, deputy parliamentary party leader of the party Subas Chandra Nembang also met Dahal and told him that the best course of action for the party was to abide by the recent decisions of the party’s Standing Committee. Recently, the Standing Committee had decided that Oli would complete five-year term as PM and Dahal would act as the executive chairperson of the party as proposed by the six-member task force, ending the intra-party feud that had threatened party unity.
