Say no to this opportunist leader

Say no to this opportunist leader

It seems to me that, as one of the voters and responsible citizen, the senior leaders of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP} is grossly misusing its political power and mandate of the majority of the people by displaying self-centered and destructive politics. This unwanted and unproductive political and egoistic behaviour of the senior leaders is tremendously affecting the nation and its people in many ways. There are numerous national issues to deal with other than its factional politics. The country is completely engrossed with pandemic corona virus. Tens of thousands of people are being affected and the number of infected persons is gradually increasing by day and as of now 235 people have already lost their lives due to this pandemic.

But, they are busy in their vestigial political interests. The egoistic politics and power tussle of the two chairpersons of NCP is going on for the last several months flexing their political muscles based on the number of second-rung leaders on their sides. One wants to grab the Premiership and the other does not want to lose it. This political drama seems to continue for some time until both of them will agree to go along with the recommendations made by the recently formed committee under the convener-ship of General Secretary.

Is not it shame for a leader who was denied by the voters during the general election trying to enter the House using back door? Is it not his moral responsibility to abide by the people’s mandate and wait for the next election? Is not it the NCP chairpersons to be bold enough to say “No” to this irresponsible and opportunist leader rather than playing dirty politics? Time will tell whether the senior leaders will work together for the nation and its people or for their own personal benefits.

Ruling party has a host of issues to deal with. But it is dealing with ambitions of a leader who lost the elections

A lynchpin or gadfly?

Nepal Communist Party vice-chair Bamdev Gautam is both.

When the ruling party holds its Secretariat meeting on Thursday, party chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be faced with a difficult challenge–all because of Gautam.

The communist leader, who lost the 2017 parliamentary elections, has once again renewed his demand for the National Assembly seat.
