Increasing number of cybercrimes

Increasing number of cybercrimes This is just to share the following article by Aditi Aryal  & Shuvam Dhunganam  published in today's "The Kathmandu Post"  April 28, 2020. They have made us aware about the increasing number of cyber crimes during this lockdown period.  With everyone forced indoors and online by the lockdown, cases of cybercrime are increasing https://tkpo.st/35d5deU The country has been under a strict lockdown for over a month now. The prohibitions on all public movement have meant that everyone is stuck indoors with ample time on their hands, which is leading to a rise in cybercrimes, according to the Nepal Police.  “During the lockdown, most people are at home and are constantly on their computers and on the internet. This has led to an increase in cases of cybercrimes,” said Senior Superintendent Nabinda Aryal, chief of the Nepal Police’s central cyber bureau. Nearly 200 complaints have been...

Affect of Corona Virus I am sure you must these days have been listening and using funny words while discussing and talking about Cororana Virus that has scared the human beings and even threatened their lives as well.  It has taken the world by storm. In many ways, it has changed the way our society functions, travels and works, and it is also transforming the way we speak.Once the WHO gave it a name "COVID 19", many new funny words have surfaced which are now being used in everyday life.  I just want to share an interesting article in today's "The Kathmandu Post" (April 27/20)by Ankit Khadgi Covid is changing everything, including everyday language https://tkpo.st/2yR2QSX

Easing lockdown outside hot-spots

Easing lockdown outside hot-spots I am bit nervous over easing lockdown in the areas outside hot-spots as reported in today's (April 24/20) "The Kathmandu Post". Yes, the three weeks lockdown throughout the nation has created ups and downs in our lives. However, if the government is thinking to ease lockdown, it should think twice before making such decision. Are we in position to identify the hot-spots around the nation? Has the government been able to identify such areas so far? What will happen if the yet to be identified infected person(s) from hot-spots area move to other non hot-spots areas after easing lockdown? There could be other several means of transmission of deadly virus from hot-spots to non hot-spots. Hope, the high level commission will seriously look into these issues and concerns before easing lockdown.   https://kathmandupost.com/health/2020/04/24/health-ministry-to-recommend-easing-of-lockdown-restrictions-in-areas-outside-coronavirus-hots...

Nepal seems to be bracing for a crisis

Nepal seems to be bracing for a crisis I am wondering how the government will handle the upcoming thousands of migrant workers influx from different host countries including the Gulf countries due to COVID 19 pandemic.   Is the government prepared to manage them? I am nervous with this upcoming scary situation that could create social, economic and political chaos.  Here is a wonderful article that was appeared in today’s (April 22/20) “The Kathmandu Post.”       With hundreds of thousands of migrants predicted to return home, Nepal needs to brace for a crisis https://tkpo.st/2xNRgYL

Unexpected political drama on the way ?

Unexpected political drama on the way ? It seems that something is cooking up behind the screen of our political drama looking at Oli’s cabinet abrupt issuance of two ordinances at a time when the country and its people are in desperate situation to fight with corona virus.   The two ordinances, presented suddenly, are related to political parties and the Constitutional Council. Both ordinances were swiftly passed by the Office of the President in a well-choreographed move where President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s approval arrived in the middle of a Secretariat meeting called to discuss the ordinances. The ordinance related to political parties, in particular, has raised serious concerns across the political spectrum, given its timing and the manner in which it was issued—without consultations in the ruling Nepal Communist Party or the wider Cabinet.   https://kathmandupost.com/national/2020/04/20/oli-s-sudden-issual-of-two-ordinances-raises-concerns-...

Why internal political feud

Why internal political feud I have taken this news report from 20 April 2020 "The Kathmandu Post" to let the readers know about the ongoing political fiasco in the ruling party when the nation is reeling under three weeks lockdown due to scary corona virus. I have nothing to do with their internal politics, however, I think this is not an appropriate time for them to act in such an irresponsible way. This is the time for them to devote their time in taking care of the common people who are nervous, scared and locked in their homes for the last three weeks. The Covid-19 crisis could have been an opportunity for the ruling Nepal Communist Party to present a united front, but the pandemic has become a catalyst instead for allegations and counter-allegations between rival factions. The party appears sharply divided between the two camps led by chairs KP Sharma Oli, who is also the prime minister, and Pushpa Kamal Dahal. But each side is making slight o...

Responsible and sensible citizen

Responsible and sensible citizen I salute Prashidhi Shrestha for being a sensible and responsible lady for self-quarantining in her house after landing in her home country and admitting herself in the hospital the following day. She knew only after her friend told her that he was infected with COVID 19.   Had the other people followed her citizenry role, no other Nepali would have been affected with this deadly virus. However, not a single Nepali has died so far due to this virus. Her encouraging and motivating news report has been published in today’s April 20/20 The Kathmandu Post.  First she tested positive for Covid-19. Then she started getting death threats Prasiddhi Shrestha, Nepal’s second case of coronavirus, fought hate speech and death threats after her diagnosis. https://tkpo.st/2VnCKQt https://kathmandupost.com/national/2020/04/20/first-she-tested-positive-for-covid-19-then-she-started-getting-death-threats

Fight with COVID 19

Self realization  12 April 2020 Fight with COVID 19 I am sure everyone must be feeling bored, nervous and restless due to three weeks lockdown. Seems that the government is likely to extend for another 2 weeks starting from May 2, 2020. We are fortunate in Nepal that until today nobody has died of this deadly virus and continue crossing fingers for always hearing good news. I see two things that COVID-19 has brought to us: 1. Fear All the human beings in the affected countries are living with fear and anxiety. Thousands of them are spending their days in lockdown fearing they would be infected with the disease. Thousands of them have lost their lives. Many of them are being quarantined and hospitalized. Nobody knows how long they will be spending their lives in this fearful situation.  2. Opportunity   This dreadful situation has given us ample opportunities for the days to come and taught us many useful lessons for our fu...
