                       The Himalayan Times 18 April 2019 Mystery remains Since the restoration of democracy in 1990, most of the senior political leaders of the major political parties have made lots of promises. Some promises were fulfilled. However, most of their promises remain to be fulfilled. One of them was the Melamchi Drinking Water Project, a highly ambitious project launched in December 2000 to quench the thirst of Kathmandu’s inhabitants, which is still incomplete and uncertain if the project will be completed in near future. Likewise, there are other national priority projects which are yet to be completed. What could be the possible reasons for these terrible irresponsible acts? The Himalayan Times 4 April 2019 Poor warning system Sometimes, Mother Nature deceives us in such a way that it becomes very difficult to forecast and dodge. The burden of such a natural disastrous becomes very heavy to bear.   It happens anywhere around the globe and any time of the year. We hear and read about the deadly flash floods, heavy landslides, windstorms and hurricanes displacing thousands of people and killing hundreds of them. However, the human casualties from such natural disasters in most of the developed countries happen to be much less because of their well preparedness.    In our case, may be, we talk much but work less. It might be one of the reasons the heavy human casualties in Bara and Parsa had to be witnessed on Sunday evening with great sorrow.
