No consensus
Looking closely at the ongoing political wrangling
inside and outside the CA, it does not seem that the parties will be able to reach
consensus on major issues of the new constitution. This is with reference to
the news story “Deal not possible in next three days: Dahal (THT, 15 Oct, Page
1). How will it be possible for them to agree on these issues if they continue
to stick to their guns rather than arriving at a compromise?
Federalism, forms of governance, electoral
system and judiciary are among the main issues to be sorted out among them.
What will happen if they failed to reach an agreement is yet to be seen. They
need to be sincere to sort out their political differences at the earliest possible.
Otherwise, it would be too late for them to correct their blunders and
ultimately it is the nation and the people will bear the brunt of their
mishandling of constitutional issues.
