Degrading national sovereignty
It was good to know that the newly formed
CPN-M seemed worrying over degrading national sovereignty and national
independence, as reported in “ CPM-N
worries over degrading sovereignty” (THT, June 27, Page 5), at this time when
the nation is passing through politically precarious situation due to political
uncertainty and political polarization among the political parties. It is very
sad and unfortunate to see them still continuing to engage in power and blame
games leaving the national agenda aside. They never seemed bothered about the
national interest and the hard lives the general people are passing through for
a long time. They simply are seen engaged in their own petty political
interests. How long the nation and its people are to suffer with these so
called senior leaders’ gross negligence, irresponsible and immoral acts?
While having informal chat recently with an
old man whom I had met with in one of the hospital in Kathmandu told me that
the King of any nation can only be counted as the real nationalist who always remains
loyal to the nation thinking that if the nation remains then he remains the
king and his son would ultimately become the king after his abdication from the
throne. He was referring to the current situation of Nepal. However, I was not so sure whether he was
trying to correlate with the degrading situation of national independence and
national sovereignty of Nepal. But, he had compelled me to think twice
seeing the on-going political situation of Nepal where the foreign powers are openly
interfering in Nepal’s internal matters.
I had among others actively participated in
second Jana Andolan movement thinking that the political parties were sincere
in their promises to bring changes and reforms in the country that would be
beneficial to the nation and all the common people. I am neither any political
activist nor royalist. But, I strongly believe in universally accepted norms
and values of true democracy. Looking closely so far towards the deteriorating
political, economical and social situation of the country, I sometimes wonder
whether I was right in taking part in second Jana Andolan. However, I am still
hopeful that the senior leaders morally and timely correct their political acts
and emancipate the nation from on-going political, economical and social chaos.
