HEALTHY, WHOLE AND COMPLETE

I n the infinity of life where I am, all is perfect, whole and complete. I accept health as the natural state of my being. I now consciously release any mental patterns within me that could express as dis-ease in any way. I love and approve of myself. I love and approve of myself. I feed it nourishing foods and beverages, I exercise it in ways that are fun. I recognize my body as a wondrous and magnificent machine, and I feel privileged to live it. I love lots of energy. All is well in my world. (This wonderful tips is from the Louse L. Hay's magnificent book "YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE"

Health indicators

The Himalayan Times 29 March 2012 It was wonderful and encouraging to read the news report “Health indicators up to the mark: Report” (THT, March 27, Page 2) with regard to the improvement of health indicators as claimed by the Nepal Demographic Health Survey (NDSH) report 2011. However, there is still a long way to go to meet the unmet health needs of the common people especially in the rural areas. The government has still numerous things to improve in its working mechanism in order to effectively delivering basic health services to the general public. Its organizational and operational structure of health system is at the top in comparison to the other countries of Asian region. However, the government is very weak in its implementation procedures. The report reads that the fertility rate in Nepal has declined over the past fifteen years which is really fascinating. There might have been other factors to influence this trend other than the government’s effort. I am not so sure

ADMIN WORRIES

The Kathmandu Post 16 march 2012 IT is a disgraceful to see the only women secretary Brinda Hada being verbally humiliated by Minister of irrigation Mahendra Yadav and his aids over the mass transfer of civil servants (“Minister’s wrath falls on senior secy” March 15, Page 1) . The representatives of the agitating employees met with Prime Minister to discuss the incident, but we are yet see what action Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai will take in response to this episode. In addition, both the political actors and the civil servants are equally responsible for inviting the current situation. Such highly politicized bureaucratic systems are not found elsewhere around the world. This unhealthy situation hurts not only the civil servants and political actors but also the ordinary people. Find alternatives

The Himalayan Times 15 March 2012 Till date, the major political parties have not been able to sort out the contentious elements of the new constitution. Therefore, it does not seem that they have enough time to draft the new constitution within the dead line. Some senior leaders of NC have been heard publicly saying that they would not be able to complete the task by the dead-line. If they are sincere in following the democratic norms and values, they do not have other alternative besides abiding by the Supreme Court’s (SC) recent verdict on CA’s tenure. However, it is still uncertain as to what and which course the major political parties will take. The chances of the major political parties loosing people’s faith loom large. There seems to be no other alternative for them except for either going for fresh mandate for CA or reviving 1990 constitution (for their political existence) and amending it in line with the changed context.   Sher Bahadur Deuba seemed bold enough to confes

Meaningless gathering

The Himalayan Times 8 March2012 Bringing thousands of cadres and innocent rural people with this or that purpose to Khula Mach in Kathmandu to show their political strength is not new for major political parties. This time, it was UML’s turn to bringing huge number of people to Khula Manch from surrounding villages and districts at the onset of their three-day National Representative Council (NRC) meeting as outlined in the editorial “Still searching” (THT, March 6, Page 6). According to them, the purpose of the mass gathering was to exert pressure to other political parties for timely completion of peace process and promulgation of new constitution within the dead-line. Was it a genuine reason for the said purpose or simply to camouflage the political and personal tussles that were going on within the party for long time?   The leaders claimed that their party stands at number one party in the midst of the common people. It seemed that they miscalculated the inner feelings of genera

VISA DRAMA

The Kathmandu Post 9 March 2012   Minister Lokendra Magar’s detention at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the UAE on the way to Germany to attend Berlin Travel Fair was a shameful incident for Nepal and Nepali. This proves the presence of a lousy and weak immigration system at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) where his travel documents were supposed to have been checked to ensure that he possessed the required documents. Having said that, every Nepali has the right to ask Minister Magar whether it was necessary for him along with wife, to participate in the travel fairing Germany . Were not there other productive jobs for him to do back in home rather than embarking on foreign junkets for pleasure? Other ministers, political leaders and high ranking officials should seriously learn the right lessons from Magar’s carelessness? Rai Biren Bangdel Maharajgunj, Kathmandu

SHATTERING ALL HOPES

The Himalayan Times 2 March 2012   Looking at the on going political situation, it seems that the major political parties would not be able to complete the peoples’ mandated task within the dead line. They have completely failed to forge consensus on the contentious issues and work cohesively to emancipate the nation from political uncertainty and disintegration. The so-called big three parties have socially and economically made the nation and the people their political hostages. The national integrity, sovereignty and identity of Nepal have been badly shattered because of their immoral and irresponsible political acts. Rampant corruption has completely plagued the nation. The government and the political parties are busy in power games and do not heed people’s plight. Uncontrolled deforestations in the tarai areas have been badly polluting the quality of environment making the international community much worried about. Criminals, thugs and gundas are enjoying the state coffer
